CSN Casima Plant reaches 32 thousand tons of billets in 5th continuous casting campaign

On December 3, 2021, the Complejo Siderurgico Nacional Planta Casima, a steel company in charge of the production of billets, started its 5th Continuous Casting Campaign, which will close on January 26, 2022.

It is a historical event within the state-owned company. Men and women of the working class managed to reach a production of 410 continuous castings, for equivalence of 32 thousand tons of steel destined to high-quality billet production; More than the planned goal projected for this campaign, according to information provided by CSN’s operations director.

“This is a production that exceeds the previous 4th campaign in the period 2021, successful for the working class and the company when it produced a total of 271 castings, also seen as a historical event and production goal of CSN,” Diaz indicated.

It is relevant to highlight that the national state-owned steel company has increased the amount of raw material processed, thanks to the activation of its allied sister companies: Briquetera del Caroni, Briquetera del Orinoco, Bauxilum, Ferrominera Orinoco, Alcasa, Calcica, INSUBACOVI, SIDOR, and Copal, which have contributed with ferrous scrap material, iron briquettes and lime which, with the addition of coke, is transformed into liquid steel.

The company plans to make a technical shutdown until the first week of March to carry out maintenance, repair, and equipment, platforms, and cranes rehabilitation, together with the arrival of new spare parts that will strengthen the plant’s operational levels and operations.
