Executive encourages the pharmaceutical sector to move from the import stage to domestic production

During the working session with the Technical Tables of the Superior Council of Economy – Pharmaceutical Engine, the President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro, expressed his willingness to continue articulating actions so that the pharmaceutical industry acquires, in a sustained manner, all the magnitude of its productive capacity, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We must have the capacity to produce in the country the vaccines and medicines needed to annul the coronavirus completely, sooner rather than later,” said the Head of State during a television contact with the pharmaceutical company Laboratorio Ronava, located in the Sucre municipality of Miranda State.

The President urged the sector to “move from the import stage to the national production of all medicines.”

Alliances in favor of the people

From the company’s warehouses, the Vice-Minister for Small and Medium Industry and New Productive Forms of the Ministry of People’s Power for Industries and National Production, Diana Castillo, explained that through alliances between the public sector and private companies, and the needs of the population concerning medicines are s to a 100%.

“We are betting on productive Venezuela and on an experience from the Pharmaceutical Engine that will also allow us to move towards the export of these products of prime necessity,” said the Vice Minister.

On the other hand, Luis Vielma, general manager of the company thanked for the opportunity that the National Executive is giving to this vital and strategic country sector.

Laboratorio Ronava has been dedicated to the production and distribution of medicines for more than 60 years. It has an installed capacity to produce 12 million units per year. It currently manufactures a drug for the treatment of COVID-19.
