Ministers Arreaza and Lorca evaluate industrial practices at Sidor to ensure environmental protection

With the vision of promoting the productive processes at Siderúrgica del Orinoco “Alfredo Maneiro” (SIDOR) in harmony with the environment, the Ministers of Industries and National Production, Jorge Arreaza, and of Ecosocialism, Josue Lorca, made a working visit this Thursday to Venezuela’s primary steel producer.

The Bolivarian Government authorities, accompanied by SIDOR workers and company executives, reviewed the operation of the equipment and good industrial practices to guarantee environmental protection.

“Increase in production binds us even more to Mother Earth”; stated Minister Arreaza through his Twitter account @jaarereaza.

As part of the visit, there was a tour of the billet steel mill where the operation of the primary metallurgical furnace was verified. There was also an inspection of the Pellas plant (a spherical agglomerated mineral used as raw material) and other production processes.

Last September, Minister Arreaza supervised at SIDOR the production processes of billets from billets, the production of steel billets, and the activation of furnaces and reduction processes.

Siderurgica del Orinoco “Alfredo Maneiro” is an integrated steel complex that uses Direct Reduction and Electric Arc Furnaces technologies.

The processes start with the manufacture of pellets and end with the delivery of long final products (bars and wire rod) and flat products (hot-rolled sheets, cold-rolled sheets, and coated sheets).
