President Maduro appoints Jose Biomorgi as Minister of Industries and National Production

The President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro Moros, approved Decree No. 4,621 by which he appoints Jose Gregorio Biomorgi as People’s Power Minister of Industries and National Production.

By this Executive Order published in the Official Gazette, Biomorgi assumes the powers inherent to the mentioned position under the legal system in force.

The appointed Minister has a degree in Chemistry from the Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV), with a Master’s Degree in Metallurgy and Materials Science from the UCV. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Université Paul Sabatier (Toulouse, France) and Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Trondheim, Norway); and a Ph.D. in Macromolecular and Supramolecular Chemistry from the Université Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, France.

Since 2002 he has held important positions in the Venezuelan Government, starting at the Venezuelan Petroleum Technological Institute.

In 2018, he was appointed Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Syrian Arab Republic. In recent months has held the position of Vice Minister of Industrial Development of the People’s Ministry of Industries and National Production.

Biomorgi will replace Jorge Arreaza, who was nominated by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela and other organizations of the Great Patriotic Pole as a candidate for Governor of Barinas State, whose elections will take place on January 9.
