President Nicolas Maduro reiterates commitment to the promotion of Human Rights

Miraflores Palace, Caracas. – The President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro, reiterated that Venezuela strengthens and promotes the fulfillment of Human Rights in the country as a mechanism to complement national and international cooperation.

During his participation -through a video message- in the 49th regular session of the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council, held in Geneva, he assured that last January 25, Venezuela participated for the third time in the Universal Periodic Review mechanism of the UN Human Rights Council.

“With a constructive and cooperative spirit, we exposed our achievements, progress, and pending challenges in terms of promotion and protection of Human Rights.” He also pointed out that since 2019 the Bolivarian Government has implemented the mechanism of cooperation and technical assistance with the office of the High Commissioner, Michelle Bachelet, to continue strengthening the human rights model in our country”.

In this sense, Officials of the Office “Are present in Venezuela carrying out their functions with complete freedom (…). The office provides technical support to more than ten institutions of the Venezuelan State in multiple areas of work,” he indicated.

He reiterated that Venezuela’s participation in the Human Rights Council aims at promoting, guaranteeing, and respecting human rights and fundamental freedoms within the framework of the commitment to peace.
