Governments of Venezuela and Cuba strengthen cooperation alliances in the industrial field

This Wednesday, during a meeting held in Caracas between the People’s Power Minister of Industries and National Production, Jorge Arreaza, and the Minister of Construction of the Antillean island, René Mesa; the governments of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Republic of Cuba gave impulse to the ongoing cooperation alliance between the two countries.

During the inter-governmental meeting, Minister Arreaza highlighted the progress of state-owned industries in their reactivation processes and the increase in the production of strategic materials.

He referred to the work developed in Basic enterprises with the help of the working class that assumed the productive processes with a deep sense of belonging under the conception of a new socialist management model.

Minister Arreaza said that the Venezuelan Government considers including Cuba’s contributions in the reactivation of the national industry.

Throughout the last two decades, Caracas and Havana have forged a solid alliance of complementarity in different areas within the framework of the Cuba-Venezuela Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement signed in 2000.

After explaining the functions of the office he heads, Minister Mesa emphasized that the Cuban Ministry of Construction has interacted closely with the People’s Power Ministry of Industries and National Production, especially with the Corporación Venezolana de Guayana (GVG).

The Cuban authority indicated that cooperation processes have progressed, based on the production in Venezuela of wire rods, electro-welded mesh, billets, and aluminum laminate required by Cuba.

The ministers agreed on the importance of exchanging experiences in the principal industries and reviewing other possibilities of cooperation. Therefore they evaluated a visit to Havana by a Venezuelan representative.

Ambassador Dagoberto Rodríguez and the head of the Economic Office, Lázaro Artola, represented Cuba at the meeting. The Venezuelan delegation consisted of the Vice Minister of Industrial Development, José Biomorgi, the Vice Minister for the Caribbean of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, Raúl Li Causi, and María Eugenia Carrasquel, representing the Technical Secretariat of the Cuba-Venezuela Integral Cooperation Agreement.
